Putting finishing touches to peers Coronation robe. Red-and-white robes of velvet and ermine which will be worn by peers and peeresses at the coronation are being made by hand in the West End workrooms of Mesars, Wilkinson Court tailors. Nearly 20 yards of handwoven velvet are used to make one robe, which, when completed, may cost as much as ?00. The difference in peers rank is shown by the variation of rows of black fur shooting led into the ermine. For peeresses the distinguishing mark is the length of the train. Photo shows: putting the finishing touches to a peers Coronation robe. The three rows of black spots denote a rank offer an Earl. 1 April 1937
