Working Men's art on view at Bethnal Green exhibition. Men representing many different trades, ranging from boxing to taxi driving Australian works of art at an exhibition of drawings, paintings and sculptures held at the Bethnal Green Museum, Cambridge Road. The men are members of the arts class at the Bethnal Green men's Institute. Some of the exhibitors are too poor to buy anything but plaster for modelling, but they have cleverly treated the plaster to look like bronze, copper and various kinds of stone. The exhibition is being officially open by Earl Stanhope, president of the Board of Education. Photo shows, W Halle with his sculpture 'The Lounger'. Halle was unemployed for many months, but now paints cinema posters. His sculpture has been admired by the Duke of Kent and the Archbishop of Canterbury. 21 June 1937
