The most fragile baby is getting well, she may be able to walk. Born with bones so fragile that everyone would have been broken should she had been allowed to crawl about, three-year-old Mary Doyle is now believed to be recovering in St Vincent's Orthopaedic Hospital, Pinner, Middlesex. For more than a year Mary has been suspended by her hands and feet in a special iron cradle, having been in this position almost since birth. She can only just move ahead and her toys are strapped to the cradle. Now her feet had been lowered a few inches because surgeons believe that she is getting well. Soon her feet may be lowered to the level of the cot, and she may eventually be able to walk. Photo shows, Mary Doyle, suspended in her cot at St Vincent's Orthopaedic Hospital.. 12 January 1938
