Old Lighthouse - Removed to Avonmouth The early attempts to mark the danger spots round the coast of Great Britain where made from the nearest points of land. By the wonderful conquest of Eddystonne Rock, engineers where shown that it was possible to build on rocks miles out at sea. many old towers on shore were replaced by others actually in the danger zones. The Lighthouse shown on this card is one of these replaced towers which has been taken to avonmouth dockyard.
