London: Rootes today unveil this new sports car - The Sun-Beam Alpine Sports Car, which they are producing in conjunction with Bristol Siddley Engines Ltd. The Sunbeam Alpine, which revives a famous name already engraved on the World's major rally trophies, is an entirely new, fast and well equipped sports car capable of 100 M.P.H. Yet costs only ?71 (including tax) in this country. The 1,494 c.c. engine has an aluminium cylinder head giving excellent cooling characteristics. Twin carburettors and twin exhausts ensure high performaced and utmost fuel economy. The Alpine is offered in either open or hard top form, self adjusting disc brakes are standard fittings on the front wheels and overdrive on third and top gears is optional. interior trimmings of the graceful body, which follows the Italian trend, even to prominent fins, is in the luxury class.
