London: Chief Minister Milton Cato (on right ) of the ruling Labour Party on the Caribbean Island of St. Vincent signs a report with Lord Shepherd, Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, of the five-day-long independence conference at Marlborough House in London. Britain today gave the 300 year old island self-governing and semi-independent status. It will be come an associated state of October 27th as a result of an agreement signed between the two governments St Vincent's opposition leader Edbenezer Johsua refused to sign the report and left the conference charged the British Government with setting up a dictatorship in St. Vincent under Milton Cato. 227 June 1969
