7 year old Alexandra Hazlerigg seen having her left ear tested by the Audiometer method at the Alderwood school, Eltham Many schools are now giving children the Audiometer Test to test the keenness of their hearing if they show difficulty in class. Through earphones the children hear numbers played from a gramophone record, which gradually become fainter. The youngsters write down the numbers as they hear them, enabling the acuteness of their hearing to be correctly assessed so that they can be placed in the classroom accordingly. 1957
