Mounted on horseback stripped to the waist and armed with sabres two French artists ( Thommy Bourdelle and Jim Gerald ) fought a duel in a meadow at Maurapas near Versailles - when all was ready they gained their saddles and charged each other with sabres flashing and after several furious passes Gerald fell from his horse wounded - he was immediately carried away on an improvised stretcher to a first aid station - later the antagonists were reconciled over a glass of port - a happy ending not entirely unexpected considering the combatants were acting a scene for a new film - photo shows Gerald being carried away to receive first aid by the seconds and a judge September 26th 1934
