The handcart that was used to convey drunk or violent prisoners to the police station lacked many of the rfinements of the St John's Ambulance boneshakers. However, it did provide great entertainment for the neighbourhood children. Many of these youngsters would follow the cart right to the precincts of the station itself. The entertainment for these children was found usually in their street games, therefore any deviation from tin-can-copper, hop-scotch, knocking-down-ginger and He! would be greatly appreciated - c.1929
