One month of 1940 has completed its course, and now at the beginning of February these men of the BEF are still waiting for the great offensive which the Germans have threatened so long and so often. As far as thier eyes can see, the countryside is covered with snow and held fast in frost's tenacious grip. The weather is hardly such as would favour the movement of vast masses of men and mechanized armament, but you never can tell, and so the watch on the enemy lines does not slacken for a moment.
