A housewife who had never ridden a motorcycle eight months ago , Mrs Christine Bassett , from Kent , has won a ladies' trophy in an open road safety rally organized by Chislehurst and Sidcup UDC . Mrs Bassett learnt to ride under the RAC - ACU training scheme after friends had given her a 600 cc motorcycle combination . Now she finds the machine , and her skill , useful for taking out her invalid husband . 6 June 1962
