The 5 Communist Party leaders who on Saturday night were arrested and charged with conspiring with others to incite persons to dress pass, and siding and abetting such trusts pass appeared before the Bow Street magistrates this morning. Charged were: Cllr EF Bramley, secretary of the London district of the Communist Party, and member of the LCC; Cllr Gabriel Carritt, communist member of the Westminster city council; Cllr Maurice Rosen, communist member of the Stepney Borough Council; Mr Stanley Henderson, secretary of the Duchess of Bedford "squatters"; and miss Joyce Alergant, commonest member of the Westminster City Council. The charges it is understood, arise from the occupations by "squatters" of the Duchess of Bedford house, Kensington, and the Fountain Court flats, Victoria. 16 September 1946.
