Hero toasts. At an investiture held by the French Ambassador, M Rene Massigli, on behalf of his Government at the Institute Francais in London this evening, Wednesday, British heroes and heroines of war more on by France. Among them was Mrs Maguerite Smith, who parachuted into France to carry out sabotage on railways and who brought information from behind German lines to advancing Allied troops, and Captain Peter Churchill, who work with the French Resistance Movement. Mrs Smith (who lives in Eastfield Road, Waltham Cross) was made a member of the L'Ordre du Corps D'Armee Etoile De Vermeil and Captain Churchill was awarded with Croix de Guerre with Palm.
