Court told of bad case of 'child cruelty'. Mr H G Godsall, prosecuting for the Devon County Council, said at Plympton today (Monday) 'this is a bad case of cruelty and there are signs that the child has been brutally treated', when Horace Jennings, 21 , described as a farmworker of Battisborough Cross, Holbeton, was accused of ill treating nine-year-old Kenneth Blight. His wife, Nora Jennings, 19, who appeared in dock holding a young baby, was charged with aiding and abetting.
