The opening of "Spinsters week" was sparked by a mass meeting of spinsters from all parts of England, in Trafalgar Square, this afternoon. at the meeting a resolution was passed urging the Government to grant a pnsion to spinsters on reaching the age of 55 years. Following the meeting the company marched through Whitehall and a deputation presented the resolution to the Prime Minister. 11 May 1947
