The hearing was resumed at Bristol Assizes today, of the case in which John Dillon, 24-year-old Irish labourer is charged with the murder of William John Herbert Delong, a Bristol taxi driver, on 5 August. Mr GD Roberts, KC, Recorder of Bristol, who is prosecuting, said that the prosecution's case was that the taxi driver was driving along the Portway with Dillon and a woman called Elsie Ellen Bowden (known as Ruth), he was killed by Dillon, being beaten and kicked to death.
