Jewish orphans arrive in Palestine. Even the hardened civilians - Jewish Agency representatives, doctors, Red Shield nurses, bus drivers and members of the press - were shocked when 500 orphaned Jewish children arrived in Palestine from Cyprus. The children were crowded into tall cages on the decks of the ' Empire Rest ' and the ' Empire Comfort ', with the little ones in front , they arrived singing songs of hope and freedom. 16 instructors accompanied the children who will be placed in settlements if they have no homes to go to.
