These parasitic evergreen plants are less conspicuous and noticeable when the tree foliage develops to its full extent later in the year. Common lime is a hybrid of natural origin between Tilia platyphyllos and Tilia cordata, correctly named Tilia x europea. It is commonly the tallest broadleaf tree in most areas of the UK. As well as being a host for Mistletoe it is also prey in summer to infestation by aphids. This can cause nuisance when the tree grows in urban areas, since the honeydew from the aphids falls on anything left or parked beneath the tree.
