A family of Pale chanting goshawks (Melierax canorus) perched in a Camel-thorn tree. This carnivorous bird-of-prey inhabits the savannah and bushlands of southern and eastern Africa. It hunts by day, watching from a perch and swooping to seize small animals such as lizards, birds, snakes and mammals. These birds also feed on termites when these insects are in abundance. Adults live in territorial pairs. Pale chanting goshawks roost in trees at night. Photographed in the Kgalagadi transfrontier park, Southern Africa.
