Sarus crane (Grus antigone). Male sarus crane in a wetland. The sarus crane is the world's tallest flying bird, with males measuring up to 1.8 metres tall and having a wing span of nearly 3 metres. It is found inhabiting the wetlands of India, southeast Asia and Australia, where it is an opportunistic feeder and will eat virtually anything, from plants and insects to small mammals and carrion.
