Capsule endoscope pushed into the duodenum, endoscope view. The duodenum is the uppermost part of the small intestine. The capsule endoscope is about 26 millimetres long and contains a miniature camera. It can be swallowed by a patient to provide real-time video images of the stomach and intestines. Over a day, the capsule moves through the digestive system and a radio antenna continually transmits images, allowing disorders, such as ulcers, to be diagnosed.
