If the person is asthmatic, ask them to use their inhaler (pump) or help them if they are unable to do so. Shake it. Remove the mouth end cover. Ask the person to breathe out deeply. Place the end at a distance of approximately four fingers width away from their mouth and press on the top of the pump at the same time as the person breathes in. If their condition does not improve within 10 minutes of using the inhaler, call for medical assistance.
