A dead Carp (Cyprinus carpio). This huge fish kill took place when a flash flood washed a large number of carp into a shallow pond. A heat wave of 95 degree F temperatures lowered the dissolved oxygen content to a point where all the fish died. Carp are a common fish in North America. The fish was first introduced from Asia in the early 19th century. Carp are considered an invasive species.
