The White-rumped Shama Thrush (Copsychus malabaricus) has a slim build and a long tail with graduated feathers. Males are shiny black with a brown belly and white feathers on the rump and the outermost parts of the tail. A special characteristic of this bird is its melodious song, which makes it uniquely recognizable. The White-Rumped Shama Thrush is native to Southern Asia. It was introduced to the island of Kaua'i in 1931, O'ahu in 1940, and Maui in the latter part of the 1900's. This individual was photographed at the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, Arizona.
