The Nile Crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus) is one of the largest species of crocodilian. Average adult males can reach lengths of 16 feet or more and can weigh about 1,100 pounds. Exceptionally large males may occasionally grow to 20 feet and weigh up to 2,465 pounds. Females are generally about 30 percent smaller. The Nile Crocodile can be found throughout most of Africa south of the Sahara and on the island of Madagascar.
