Pacific Mole Crab, Emerita analoga, photographed at the Sea Center, Santa Barbara Wharf, California. Also called the Pacific Sand Crab, this crab burrows into the sand backwards so that only its head and antennae are exposed at the surface. It uses its long, feathery antennae to catch plankton and detritus, its prime food.
