Redband Parrotfish (Sparisoma aurofrenatum) can grow to 28 cm (11 in.). Parrotfish are named after their teeth which are fused into an beak-like structure, which they use when grazing on algae or biting at corals. They are an important producer of sand which comes from the limestone that they ingest and then pass out. Photographed in Grand Cayman.
