Piebald white-tailed deer buck (Odocoileus virginianus) with velvet shed, Mississippi. Piebald is a spotting pattern of large unpigmented (sometimes expressed as white) areas and normally pigmented patches. The underlying genetic cause is related to leucism, a reduction in all types of skin pigment.
