Bullfrogs (Rana catesbeiana) often spend the cooler winter months in the mud and muck with their metabolism slowed (torpor). On warm days in the spring they will often emerge to sit in the sun. This is a bullfrog that has emerged from a buried position in the mud of a Georgia waterway. Image taken in 2009.
