Newly emerged Cynthia moth (Samia cynthia) on Ailanthus altissima which is known as Tree of Heaven and Ailanthus. This species of moth was introduced into the USA in a failed attempt to boost the silk business. It is native throughout Asia and has been introduced to Japan, India, Australia, Canada, United States, Venezuela, Uruguay, Brazil, Tunisia, France, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Spain and Bulgaria.
