Robber fly (Damalis sp., Family Asilidae) from the rainforest in Bukit Timah Reserve in Singapore has captured a male Anopheles mosquito. The fly has inserted the stylet from its mouthparts into the thorax of the mosquito and injected digestive enzymes to liquefy the tissues of the moquito, which it then sucks up the stylet into its own body. Anmopheles mosquitos are the major vectors of malaria.
