Aerial of the dam and the Serre Poncon Lake amidst the Hautes Alpes in France, looking towards the Massif de Pelvoux in the Parc National des Ecrins, and Mount Chabrieres. The dam is part of a series of river control measures that were taken after the disastrous floods in Frejus in the 1960's. The dam created the reservoir which allows a small hydro station to generate electricity and provides a lake which is used for recreation.
