Wairakei Geothermal Power Station, near Taupo, North Island, New Zealand. This was the first geothermal plant to use hot water as the source of the steam used to drive the turbines. It produces more than 4% of New Zealand's electricity - enough to supply the towns of Taupo, Rotorua, Napier and Hamilton.
