Chabazite is calcium aluminum silicate and a member of the large group of minerals known as zeolites. Zeolites are characterized by their tendency to give off water (which is part of their crystal structures) when heated. Chabazite typically forms orange or colorless crystals with a characteristic rhomb shape. Major localities include Nova Scotia and New Jersey, where chabazite occurs in basalt with other zeolites.
