Chrysocolla, copper silicate, is a bright blue mineral that forms in the oxidation zone of copper deposits, and also as a secondary mineral in surrounding rocks. It forms as crusts and veins, and is sometimes coated by minerals that formed at a later time, such as quartz. The material from Zacatecas, Mexico is spectacular and very popular with collectors.
