The Eucalyptus Long-horn Borer was introduced to southern California around 1982. Since then it has moved throughout the reigon, including the Channel Islands. It is uncertain how serious a threat this beetle is to the extensive eucalyptus groves planted in California since the 1860s. They probably only attack trees weakened by drought or disease.
