American Air force F-86 Sabre Jet flying by a 1912 model pusher biplane. This photograph represents the progress of four decades of aviation technology. The pusher was constructed and flown by Billy Parker. It weighed 1,075 pounds and reached a speed of 60 miles an hour. The Sabre, developed in the 1940's, houses a 9,000 horsepower General Electric turbo jet engine which propelled it to a world speed record of 670 miles an hour. It weighs 13,715 pounds and in its pressurized cockpit a pilot can reach an altitude of above 40,000 feet.
