Italy's greatest art gallery, was built between 1560-80 for Duke Cosimo I. The architect was Vasari. His use of iron reinforcement allowed his successor Buontalenti to create an almost continuous wall of glass on the upper floors, which was perfect for an art gallery. The building was originally built to house offices. The view looks past the Arno River.
