The Palatine was once an area of residence for Rome's most important figures. Emperors and aristocrats resided here. It is unknown what the exact use of the so-called Hippodrome of Domitian. Shaped like a stadium for chariot or foot races, it is too small for the former and not likely to have been used for the latter. Rather it is thought to have been used as a private garden shaped like a stadium. The statues are all from the Hippodrome, an actual stadium.
