A photochrom print from 1906 of the tombs of the Mamelukes or Caliphs on the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt. These are the tombs of the 14th- and 15th-century Mamluk Sultans. This image was made by French industrialist Paul Fleury. Photochrom (also called the A瓣c process) prints are colorized images produced from black-and-white photographic negatives via the direct photographic transfer of a negative onto lithographic printing plates. The process is a photographic variant of chromolithography, a broader term that refers to color lithography in general.
