Cook's Bay, French Polynesia, Moorea. Cook's Bay is named after Captain Cook, who was the first westerner to see Tahiti and Moorea in 1774. In 1777 he returned to Moorea and was allowed him to drop anchor in what is now known as Cook's Bay by Chief Mahine of the Moorea clan Marama.
