Arginusae, east of the North Aegean Islands of Lesbos, Greece. It was the site of a naval battle in 406 BC won by the Athenian navy. Afterwards they succumbed to a storm and perished on the treacherous rocks with hundreds of sailors drowning, the commanding officers later were impeached in Athens (with Socrates being on the prosecuting committee).
