Chief Shakes Tribal House, a 1939 replica of a Tlingit clan house on Shakes Island in Wrangell Harbor, Southeast Alaska. The many faces painted on the body of the central figure represent the natives' belief that each individual part of the body could be inhabited by a spirit.
