The Almohades were the first to build a palace, which was called Al-Muwarak, on the site of the modern day Alc獺zar. The Moors were the medieval Berber Muslim inhabitants of Morocco, western Algeria, the Iberian Peninsula, Septimania, Sicily and Malta. The term Moors refers to anyone of Berber or North African Berber-Arab descent, whether living in Spain or North Africa.
