Flamingo (Phoenicopterus) against a Keratophyton Dichotomum fulcum plant, which grows in the shallow seas and channels of the Bahama Islands. The flamingo attains its true color at two years, and then it is entirely red except for the quill feathers which are black. Illustration by Mark Catesby, 1731.
