The Victorians are credited with inventing childhood, partly via their efforts to stop child labor and the introduction of compulsory education. As children began to be able to read, literature for young people became a growth industry, with not only established writers producing works for children, but also a new group of dedicated children's authors. "The Electric Boots" taken from page 8 of "The Children's Fairy Geography, or A Merry Trip Round Europe" by Forbes Edward Winslow, 1879. This classic children's book is still in print over 100 years later!
