Engraving of damaged heart of King George II, 1761. An 18th-century journal page showing the heart of King George II of Great Britain (1683-1760), as examined following his death from an aortic aneurysm and rupture of the right ventricle. This artwork depicts the aneurysm and rupture. The examination was carried out by the king's physician Frank Nicholls (1699-1778). This page is from volume 52 (1761-2) of the journal "Philosophical Transactions", published by the Royal Society of London. It forms part of the account published by Nicholls, elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1728.
