Color enhanced SEM (scanning electron micrograph) of Salmonella enteritidis is a rod-shaped, gram-negative bacterium and food-borne pathogen. The bacterium causes salmonellosis a type of food poisoning. Symptoms include fever, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. The bacterium can be spread to humans by contaminated eggs.
