Color-enhanced Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM) of chlamydomonas, a unicellular algae approximately 10 micrometers in diameter. Each cell has a single chloroplast that is used for photosynthesis. The organism propels itself through the water with the use of two flagella. This SEM shows two Chlamydomonas cells at 7000x magnification.
