Hybrid protoplast of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) and carrot (Daucus carota), produced by treatment of mixed protoplasts (see GA5319) with polyethylene glycol. A protoplast is a plant cell which has been chemically treated to remove the cell wall. The lack of cell wall makes protoplast cells easier to manipulate for genetic experimentation.
